Irish Seaweed

What is Irish Seaweed?

Irish Seaweed is actually a nutrient packed sea vegetable. Scientists call the red seaweed from Ireland chondrus crispus.

Chondrus crispus is a bushy plant made from numerous proteins and minerals and is possibly the most scientifically studied

of the seaweed species.

It packs a powerful nutritional profile:

40% protein with amino acids

35% mineral content including: Ca, Cl, K, Na, P Mg, Fe

Vitamins beta-carotene (pro-Vitamin A), some B complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 & Folic acid) and E and K.

How does Irish Seaweed work?

Seaweeds have been used for centuries for regenerative and nutritional purposes. Algotherapy is the term to describe the

use of seaweed in health and beauty treatments. Seaweed baths became popular at the end of the 19th century and are still

found in high-end spas around the world.

Softened in water, the gel from Irish Seaweed has been used in several cosmeceutical formulations due to its high nutrient content.

Proteins and minerals lead to growth and building of millions of skin cells. Many companies manufacture seaweed products due to

their restorative and purifying properties. OGI recognizes Irish Seaweed as a complementing ocean ingredient in the

unique OAVE™ skincare blend.
